Milford Beach Huts

Location : Milford on sea, New Forest, UK

Scope : Concept Design

Type : Beach Hut and Promenade Design

Size :  120 Beach Huts and 300 meters of promenade

Status : Concept

New Forest District Council sought a design for 120 Beach Huts and 300 meter’s of promenade to replace the existing sea front that had been destroyed in the storms of 2014. We were inspired by Coastal Defence structures; built particularly for a specific purpose where performance and longevity of materials have the greatest importance. The striking repetitive forms imbue these coastal bodies with a feeling of permanence so that they appear defensive and watchful over the landscape. A unique spectrum of Lichen inspired colours assigned across the front of the beach huts will gave a uniqueness to each individual hut as well as creating a new piece of identity for the village of Milford-on- Sea.
